First place in the “National Mid-Size Companies” category went to Bühler Motor’s plant in Monheim/Germany
Nürnberg, 26 August 2009 – The winner of the highly desired “Automotive Lean Production Award 2009” has been announced. Bühler Motor gets first place in the “National Mid-Size Companies” category for its Monheim/Germany plant.
The jury was especially impressed with the pragmatic processes and high speed at which the design solutions are realized. This achievement was only possible with the assistance of employees at every level of the company. The award is given for exemplary solutions that can serve as benchmarks for the industry.
“Our goal was clear from the beginning: We wanted better quality, higher productivity, and superior reliability in order to bring our customers even closer to us. We are happy that our efforts were rewarded. This is an award of which our employees can truly be proud,” states Peter Muhr, president of Bühler Motor GmbH.
“Lean structures and safe processes are an important part of quality assurance. By avoiding waste we increase the product’s value,” adds Dr. Uwe Bader, global production manager.
Once a year the “Automotive Lean Production Award” is given to companies which have been highly successful in implementing lean production processes aimed at superior customer service.
In an analysis of the entire value chain in the plant it is determined how consistent and successful the company applies lean processes and principles, and how committed management and the employees are to “thinking lean”.
The “Automotive Lean Production – Study and Award”, one of the most important studies in the automotive industry, is an initiative by the “AUOTMOBIL-PRODUKTION” trade journal and “Agamus Consult”, Starnberg, a consulting firm; it has been in force internationally since 2006. The award ceremony will take place on November 19, at the 4. annual “Automotive Lean Production” trade conference. The conference’s key note speaker, Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg, Director of Research and Development for VW, will give the opening remarks.
